Add remote storage system
Network-attached storage is a file-level storage architecture that makes stored data more accessible to networked devices.
Prerequisites
See Roles and associated permissions to determine the user roles that can perform this task.
Before modifying a remote system, ensure that the following tasks are complete:
- Control Path communication - Ensure that at least one of the SLIC ports mapped to the File guest has connectivity to a switch through which the File guest can interact with the eNAS 1.0/VNX Control Station guest.
- Data Path communication - ensure that the SLIC ports mapped to File guest for I/O connectivity are in the same subnet as that of the SLIC ports mapped to the data mover in eNAS 1.0/VNX whose file system configuration and data must be migrated.
- A remote connection must exist until all active import sessions are either completed or cancelled. Deleting the import connection removes all information about associated import sessions, including stored reports and support materials.
Ensure the following: The Data Mover on storage systems running PowerMax OS 5977 or PowermaxOS 5978 must also be within the same network as the Clearsky connections on storage systems running PowerMaxOS10 (6079). It's important to note that these Clearsky connections are not part of the management connectivity.
- For a source VNX system with two control stations, the home directory of a user with the Administrator role, which is used in configuring the remote system connection, must exist on the primary control station of the VNX.
- The remote system does not already exist in the list of remote systems.
- For a VDM import, ensure file import interfaces are configured on each node of the destination system.
The remote system for file failure can occur for a number of reasons, for example, incorrect service password, or SSH is disabled.
